Round bars are the most versatile cross-section — used for shafts, pins, bolts, and general machining. Diameters range from 6 to 250 mm per EN 10060, with standard lengths of 6,000 mm. Flat bars, produced per EN 10058, are widely used for frames, gates, railings and structural connections. Available widths span from 20 to 200 mm with thicknesses from 5 to 20 mm. Square bars (EN 10059) in sizes 8 to 100 mm serve as structural supports, machine components and decorative elements. Hexagonal bars (EN 10061) from 10 to 60 mm across flats are commonly used for fastener production and turned parts.
All bars are supplied in grades S235JR (material number 1.0038) and S355J2 (1.0577). Bright drawn bars with tighter tolerances (h9/h11) are available on request for precision applications. Every delivery can be accompanied by a Werksprüfzeugnis 3.1 per EN 10204, confirming chemical composition and mechanical properties. What sizes of steel round bar does ULAMEX stock?
ULAMEX stocks hot rolled round bars in diameters from 6 to 250 mm, produced per EN 10060 in grades S235JR and S355J2. The most commonly ordered sizes are 10, 12, 16, 20, 25, 30, 40, 50, 60, 80 and 100 mm diameter. Standard length is 6,000 mm, with cut-to-size available.
What is the difference between hot rolled and bright drawn steel bars?
Hot rolled (black) bars are formed at high temperature and have a dark mill scale surface with standard tolerances. Bright drawn bars are cold-drawn through a die, resulting in a smooth, oxide-free surface and tighter dimensional tolerances (h9 or h11). Hot rolled bars are suitable for welding and general construction, while bright bars are preferred for machining and precision components.
What flat bar sizes are available?
ULAMEX supplies flat bars per EN 10058 in widths from 20 to 200 mm and thicknesses from 5 to 20 mm. Popular dimensions include 50x5, 50x10, 60x8, 80x10, 100x10, 100x12, 120x10 and 150x10 mm. Wide flat bar (Breitflachstahl) from 150 to 400 mm wide is also available.
Can steel bars be cut to specific lengths?
Yes. ULAMEX provides sawing services for all bar types. Round, flat, square and hexagonal bars can be cut to your required lengths and quantities. Please specify your needs in the quotation request.
What steel grades are available for bars?
Standard grades are S235JR (1.0038) and S355J2 (1.0577) per EN 10025-2. For bright bars, grades E335 and S235JR+C (cold drawn) are available. Mill test certificate 3.1 is available on request. Full black steel product range includes sections and sheet as well.
