Galvanized Steel Profiles
Galvanized Steel Profiles -- Corrosion-Protected Sections for Construction and Industry
Galvanized steel profiles combine the structural performance of carbon steel with the long-term corrosion protection of a zinc coating. Hot-dip galvanizing according to ISO 1461 ensures that profiles used in exposed environments -- roofing structures, agricultural buildings, solar mounting frames, industrial halls and outdoor infrastructure -- maintain their integrity for decades without maintenance.
ULAMEX offers an extensive selection of galvanized profile types. Cold-formed purlins (C-profiles, Z-profiles) are the core product for secondary steelwork in metal buildings, providing roof and wall support with spans of up to 12 metres. Our galvanized angles (L-profiles) serve as bracing, connection elements and support structures. Flat bars and round bars are used for grille supports, handrails, fencing components and general fabrication. Galvanized square and rectangular hollow sections are employed in carport construction, racking systems and equipment frames.
All profiles are manufactured from structural steel grades S235JR (1.0038) and S355J2 (1.0577) in accordance with EN 10025-2, and subsequently hot-dip galvanized to achieve minimum zinc coating thicknesses specified by ISO 1461. For continuously galvanized thin-wall profiles, coating classes Z275 and Z350 per EN 10346 are available.
Whether you are specifying purlins for a warehouse roof or galvanized angles for an agricultural building, ULAMEX delivers from stock with galvanizing certificates and competitive B2B pricing. All profiles can also be cut to size upon request.

Frequently Asked Questions
What galvanized profile types does ULAMEX offer?
ULAMEX supplies C-purlins, Z-purlins, U-channels (UPN), angles (L-profiles), T-profiles, flat bars, round bars, square bars and square/rectangular hollow sections. All profiles are available in hot-dip galvanized finish per ISO 1461 or with continuous galvanizing (Z275/Z350) for cold-formed sections.
What is the difference between a C-purlin and a Z-purlin?
C-purlins have flanges pointing in the same direction, creating a C-shape, and are typically used as single-span members. Z-purlins have flanges pointing in opposite directions and are designed for continuous multi-span applications where overlapping at supports is required. Both types offer comparable load-bearing performance but differ in connection detailing and structural behaviour.
What steel grades are the galvanized profiles made from?
Hot-rolled profiles (angles, channels, bars) are manufactured from S235JR (1.0038) or S355J2 (1.0577) per EN 10025-2. Cold-formed purlins and hollow sections are typically produced from S350GD+Z275 per EN 10346. Custom grades are available upon request for specific project specifications.
Are galvanized profiles suitable for outdoor and agricultural use?
Yes. Hot-dip galvanized profiles are specifically designed for outdoor exposure. The zinc coating provides maintenance-free corrosion protection for 30-50+ years in typical rural and suburban environments (C2 category). Agricultural buildings, livestock facilities and storage halls are among the primary applications for galvanized purlins and structural sections.
Can ULAMEX cut galvanized profiles to a specific length?
Yes. In addition to standard 6,000 mm lengths, we offer cutting to your specified dimensions. Contact our sales team with your project requirements, and we will include cut-to-size options in your quotation.
How do galvanized profiles compare to stainless steel profiles?
Galvanized steel profiles offer excellent corrosion resistance at a significantly lower cost than stainless steel. They are the preferred choice for structural applications such as roofing, industrial buildings and agricultural structures. Stainless steel profiles are recommended where chemical resistance, food-grade compliance or architectural aesthetics are primary requirements.
