CLAMPS FOR 3D PANELS

Fence panel clamps are the critical mounting hardware that connects welded mesh fence panels to their supporting posts, forming the structural link between panel and post in every professional fence installation. Without properly specified clamps, even the highest-quality 3D fence panels and galvanized posts cannot deliver the rigidity, security and wind resistance that a perimeter fence system demands. ULAMEX supplies hot-dip galvanized U-shaped mounting clamps engineered for universal compatibility with 60×40 mm and 80×60 mm rectangular tube fence posts, accommodating both 3D (V-bend) and 2D (flat/double-wire) panel types used across industrial, commercial and residential fencing projects.

Design and Construction of Fence Panel Clamps

Each clamp set consists of three precision-formed components that work together to create a secure, tamper-resistant panel-to-post connection:

  • U-shaped bracket — a formed steel clip that wraps around the fence post from the rear, gripping the post on three sides. The U-bracket geometry ensures that the clamping force is distributed evenly across the post surface, preventing localised stress concentrations that could damage the post’s zinc coating or deform the tube wall.
  • Pressure plate — a flat or contoured steel pressing that sits against the front face of the fence panel mesh. The pressure plate distributes the bolt clamping force across multiple panel wires, preventing point loading that could bend or break individual mesh wires. For 3D panels with V-bend reinforcements, the pressure plate profile is shaped to accommodate the panel’s horizontal stiffening ribs.
  • M8 security bolts — each clamp is fastened with M8 hexagonal bolts (or optionally anti-tamper security bolts with non-standard drive profiles). Anti-tamper hardware uses proprietary head geometries — typically pin-in-hex, snake-eye or shear-head types — that cannot be removed with standard tools, providing an essential layer of security against unauthorised panel removal in public-facing and high-security installations.

The complete assembly sequence is straightforward: the U-bracket is positioned behind the post, the panel mesh is placed against the post front face, the pressure plate is aligned over the mesh wires, and the M8 bolts are tightened to the specified torque. No welding, drilling or special tooling is required — clamps enable fully non-destructive, reversible panel mounting that allows future panel replacement, repositioning or fence line extension without cutting or modifying any component.

Compatibility and Post Sizes

ULAMEX fence panel clamps are manufactured in two size variants to match the standard post profiles used in European panel fencing systems:

  • 60×40 mm post clamps — the standard size for residential, light commercial and agricultural fence installations. Compatible with ULAMEX 60×40 mm fence posts in wall thicknesses 1.5 mm and 2.0 mm. This is the most widely used post/clamp combination for fence heights up to 2,030 mm.
  • 80×60 mm post clamps — the heavy-duty size for industrial perimeter security, high-wind-load installations and fence heights of 2,030 mm and above. The larger post section provides significantly greater bending resistance, and the corresponding clamp dimensions ensure full contact area and maximum clamping force on the wider post face.

Both clamp sizes are compatible with 3D fence panels (V-bend mesh, wire 4–5 mm, mesh 50×200 mm) and 2D fence panels (flat double-wire, 6/5/6 and 8/6/8 configurations). The universal pressure plate design accommodates the different mesh geometries without requiring separate panel-specific clamp variants.

Surface Finish and Corrosion Protection

All clamps are hot-dip galvanized per DIN EN ISO 1461, providing a zinc coating thickness of 45–65 micrometres that matches the corrosion protection standard of the panels and posts in the fence system. This ensures uniform weathering behaviour across all components — no single element becomes the weak link in the corrosion chain. For colour-matched installations, clamps are available in galvanized + RAL powder-coated finishes, including RAL 7016 (anthracite grey) and RAL 6005 (moss green), ensuring a visually seamless fence line where every component — panel, post and clamp — shares the same colour.

Quantity Guide and Installation

The number of clamp sets required per panel-to-post connection depends on the panel height:

  • Panel height 1,030–1,230 mm: 4 clamp sets per connection
  • Panel height 1,530–1,730 mm: 4–5 clamp sets per connection
  • Panel height 2,030–2,430 mm: 5–6 clamp sets per connection

Each fence panel connects to two posts (left and right), so the total clamp requirement per panel is double the per-connection count. For a 100-metre fence run at 2,500 mm panel spacing, this translates to approximately 40 panels × 2 connections × 5 clamps = 400 clamp sets. ULAMEX provides exact clamp quantities calculated to your specific fence layout as part of every complete fence system quotation.

Clamps are also available individually for extensions, repairs and replacements — if a panel is damaged by vehicle impact, weather or accidental contact, only the affected panel and its clamps need to be replaced, not the entire fence section. This modular replaceability is a key advantage of the clamp-mounted panel fence system over welded or riveted alternatives.

Fence Accessories and Complete System

Clamps are one element in the complete ULAMEX galvanized fence system. For a fully specified installation, combine with:

  • 3D fence panels or 2D fence panels — the mesh infill
  • Fence posts 60×40 mm or 80×60 mm — the vertical support structure
  • Wickets — pedestrian access gates
  • Gates — vehicle access (double-leaf swing or sliding)
  • Post caps — to prevent water ingress into post tops

As your single-source fence accessories supplier, ULAMEX delivers all components from stock with consistent zinc quality and colour matching across the entire system. Whether you are fencing an industrial compound, a residential development or an agricultural holding, our clamp sets provide the secure, tamper-resistant and maintenance-free connection your fence system requires.
