Stainless Steel Profiles
Stainless Steel Structural Profiles — Grades, Dimensions, Standards
Stainless steel profiles combine the corrosion resistance of chromium-nickel alloys with the load-bearing capability required for structural and mechanical engineering. Whether for food processing frameworks, chemical plant walkways, handrail systems or marine constructions, the right profile section and grade selection ensures long service life with minimal maintenance.
Our range covers both hot-rolled and laser-fused profile types in equal and unequal angles, standardised U-channels (UPN, UPE), T-sections and I/H beams (IPE, HEB, HEA). We also carry an extensive selection of drawn flat bars, square bars and hexagonal bars for machining and architectural detailing. Standard lengths are 3,000 mm and 6,000 mm; other lengths are available on request.
All profiles comply with EN 10088-3 for stainless steel semi-finished products and EN 10056 (angles), EN 10279 (channels) and EN 10058 (flat bars) for dimensional tolerances. For construction applications, ULAMEX is certified to EN 1090, ensuring compliance with the Construction Products Regulation.
If your project requires a different material, we also stock aluminum profiles and structural steel sections in a comparable range of dimensions.

Frequently Asked Questions
What stainless steel profile types does ULAMEX stock?
We carry L-angles (equal and unequal), U-channels (UPN), T-profiles, flat bars, square bars, hexagonal bars and double T-bars (IPE, HEB). Dimensions range from 20x20x3 mm for angles up to HEB 200 for beams. All available in grades 1.4301 (304) and 1.4404 (316L).
What is the difference between hot-rolled and laser-fused stainless steel angles?
Hot-rolled angles are produced from solid stainless steel billets and have rounded inner corners with standard tolerances per EN 10056. Laser-fused (welded) angles are fabricated from flat material, resulting in sharper inner corners and tighter dimensional control. Hot-rolled profiles are generally preferred for structural loads; laser-fused profiles for precision and architectural applications.
Which grade should I choose — 1.4301 (304) or 1.4404 (316L)?
Grade 1.4301 is suitable for general indoor and outdoor use without exposure to chlorides or aggressive chemicals. Grade 1.4404 contains molybdenum for enhanced resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion — choose this for marine, chemical, food processing and pharmaceutical environments.
Can ULAMEX cut stainless steel profiles to my required length?
Yes. We offer sawing and cut-to-length services for all profile types. Standard lengths are 3,000 and 6,000 mm, but we can supply custom lengths on request. Contact our team with your specifications.
Are stainless steel profiles from ULAMEX suitable for construction per EN 1090?
Yes. ULAMEX holds EN 1090 certification for structural steelwork. All profiles are available with 3.1 inspection certificates per EN 10204 on request, confirming grade, dimensions and mechanical properties.
How do stainless steel profiles compare to aluminum profiles?
Stainless steel profiles offer superior strength, higher temperature resistance and better corrosion performance in aggressive environments. Aluminum profiles are lighter (roughly one-third the density) and more cost-effective for non-corrosive applications. The choice depends on the specific load, environment and budget requirements of your project.
